Leave no trace
The Nowhere site is spectacular – we want to keep it that way
‘Leave no trace’ means that when you leave Nowhere, it’s like you were never there.
Please make sure you take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave – that means cigarette butts, rubbish, food scraps, tent pegs or anything that has been blown away by the wind.
Please pick up any rubbish that you come across, even if it’s not yours – together we can leave no trace!
The war against MOOP
MOOP (matter out of place) is anything that wasn’t at the site before we came, from a cigarette lighter to a hair clip to a scrap of paper to a tent peg. To win the war against MOOP, we need to:
Know your enemy: Train yourself to spot MOOP at 10 paces. Try to keep track of your belongings and be responsible for your own rubbish. Also look out for other people accidentally leaving things behind.
Be vigilant: Patrol regularly for MOOP – picking up small pieces as you go means less work at the end.
Set traps: If you’re doing something messy, put a drop sheet down to collect the MOOP.
Rally the troops: Involve other people in your battle against MOOP – done together, it's actually rather fun!
Never say die: It’s tempting to think that you’ve done your bit, but the fight is not over until the site is MOOP-free.
Clean up
Even when everyone is responsible for themselves and their MOOP, some communal things still need a few extra hands to ensure we really leave no trace. If you can stick around for a day or two after the event to help us take down the site, store all our stuff and clear up the ground, please email
