Making your Nowhere greener...

Transport
Travelling to Nowhere is responsible for around 80% of Nowhere's CO2 equivalent emissions and its ecological footprint. If you want to contribute to a greener festival, try to start here.
Getting to Nowhere
Try not to fly (which has high emissions). Take the train or bus instead - check out Getting there for timetables. You will reduce your emissions by three to seven times by not flying. You can also share a car - offer rides and look for ride shares on the forum. And why not consider a bike trip to Nowhere!
Whether you travel by plane, car, bus or train, consider buying carbon offsets from nfp gold standard companies like Myclimate or Atmosfair, and try to use the most direct route.
Environmentally friendly toiletries Toiletries such as soap, shampoo and toothpaste can contain phosphates and other chemicals that are detrimental to the environment. Unless you plan on using an evaporation pond and grey water system for all the run off from your toiletries and disposing of it properly, please only use eco-friendly products such as biodegradable soap and eco-friendly toothpaste. We recommend you purchase these ahead of time as they may not be as easily available in Spain.
Water
A massive amount of energy is used to make plastic water bottles... Here are a few tips for using less plastic:
- see you if you or your camp can source large water carriers (the larger the better), and then decant water into smaller containers
- try not to use really small water bottles
- re-use water bottles as many times as possible
Nowhere top tip: There is a spring in the village of Castejon with free running drinkable water and local people are happy for us to use it. As you enter Castejon from Nowhere, you will pass a garage on your left. Keep driving for another 1km or so until just before you get to the other end of the village. At the fork off to the right, you'll see a stone structure with a big tree shading it. The spring is in there. Take as many refillable containers as possible before making your trip to the village.
If you are sharing large water containers, make sure the people you're camping with understand how precious water is in the desert - so while it's essential you all drink enough water, a bit of soap dodging is a good thing at Nowhere!
