SITE & INFRASTRUCTURE LEAD

The Site Infrastructure MetaLead is responsible for overseeing the Site Infrastructure department and associated projects, teams and initiatives. The role will provide guidance and support to Leads within the department and manage the planning of site and infrastructure operations during the annual Nowhere event including transport & deliveries, power, Site Leads and Site Maintenance (collectively Si Ops) teams, generators & fuel, and any other functions necessary for the event and in accordance with the event’s licence requirements as set by the Spanish local government. 

Duties / Tasks

Pre-Event 

  • Participate in MetaLeads committee meetings, updating the other MetaLeads and Project Manager on the status of the department, which includes:
    • Monthly status reports to the MetaLeads committee
    • Blockers
    • Request for help
    • Recruitment needs and any vacancies, newly created roles and priority areas for recruitm
    • Update on all your teams, causes of delay
    • Ideas for projects or initiatives
  • Disseminate any relevant information from MetaLeads committee and Project Manager to your department and its teams
  • Ensure that policies relevant to your department are created, adopted, maintained and trained to by your teams
  • Recruit and manage Leads and Co-Leads for your sub-departments
  • Chair regular meetings for your department and escalate issues or feedback to MetaLeads committee or Project Manager as and when necessary
  • Ensure the Leads in your department receive update and information relevant to them carrying out their role, including anything that may require them to make changes to their work or timelines
  • Responsible for budget creation, and updating any capital needs and work with Finance to plan for the needs
  • Ensure the Leads in your department adhere to crucial budget and purchasing deadlines
  • Provide peer support and guidance for MetaLeads and Leads in the recruitment, planning, communication and organisation of their teams
  • Facilitate cross-department communications to make sure the right people are talking to each other from your teams
  • Support Leads in your department to ensure they are able to carry out their roles, resolve any issues that might arise (including covering vacancies as needed), and provide any guidance and support as and when needed

On-Site

  • Provide support to teams in your department (including covering vacancies as needed)
  • Regularly check in with other MetaLeads and act as the point of contact for your department as and when needed
  • Participate in any on-site meetings relevant to your role
  • Carry out any site management shift as agreed
  • Coordinate with Participant Wellness MetaLead, Malfare Lead, and Malfare Shift Lead to plan for and provide coverage as needed for any major incident

Post-Event

  • Solicit and provide feedback to highlight any areas that may need review or improvement (up, down, and out)
  • Coordinate with your department to ensure that PNRs (Post Nowhere Reports) are performed.
  • Participate in Lead meetings for debriefing as required
  • Create project plan for following Nowhere
  • Ensure the department has representation in the annual All Leads Meeting

Desired

  • Experience or knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Spanish speaking
  • Experience of recruiting volunteers

TIME Commitment:

Pre-event: A few hours a week at the start of the year, increasing to 10-20 or so hours a week as Nowhere approaches.

On-site: (Total time expected would be about 14 days onsite) 

Setup – 3-7 days on site prior to gate opening.

Event – Any site management shift per agreed rota.

Strike – 2-5 days on site after the end of the event.

Post-event: A few hours in the first couple of months following Nowhere to provide post Nowhere feedback and the opportunity to participate in the annual All Leads Meeting
