Role to be filled

Malfare | Interpreter & Driver Lead

Year Round and on site

PURPOSE/SUMMARY

Working as part of the Malfare Team, you are responsible for creating an Interpreter rota and a Designated Driver rota and for Interpreter and Driver recruitment. A large part of this role is administrative, so requires an organized person who also enjoys working with a wide range of people onsite. It is not a hugely time consuming or demanding role, either pre-event or onsite, so might suit someone looking for their first NOrg role.

Tasks and Time Commitment

This is a year round role, and planning typically starts in earnest from January, taking maybe an hour or two a week and getting busier in the run up to July. The month before the event is usually the busiest, requiring up to five or six hours weekly depending on workload and team size, and after the event there are some wrap up tasks before a lull until the cycle starts again.

Here’s an example of some of the tasks you’ll be helping with throughout the year;

Pre-Event

  • Ensure Interpreter and Driver shifts are correctly held in FIST
  • Recruit Interpreters (English, Spanish, and, optionally, French) to rota
  • Recruit Drivers and fill the Drivers’ rota
  • Use social media and the Comms Team to promote the shifts
  • Communicate regularly with Malfare Lead on recruitment and rotas
  • Ensure that all Interpreters and Drivers have all appropriate information to undertake their role, including radio training

On Site

  • Communicate onsite with NoInfo to fill any rota gaps
  • Welcome people to their shift (or inform Malfare Shift Leads how to do this) and ensure they know how to use their radio and what their shift entails
  • Ensure onsite that Drivers provide their license and sign waiver prior to their shift
  • Keep Malfare Lead/Malfare Shift Lead/Assistant Malfare Shift Lead updated on interpreter and driver rotas and recruitment

Post-Event

  • Collect feedback from volunteers after the event to assist improvements next year
  • Provide written feedback in the form of a Post Nowhere Report (PNR)
  • Participate in a wrap up meeting with your team and/or MetaLead as appropriate
  • If you intend to step down, ensure the role description is up to date
  • Attend the annual All Leads Meeting (ALM) if possible
