Art Installations | Lead

Year round and on site

PURPOSE/SUMMARY

Do you love art and love seeing art at Burns? Could you delight in managing the process of bringing amazing art and their artists to Nowhere? Are you good at managing teams and processes? We are looking for an Art Installations Lead for Nowhere. This position plays a central role in the Creativity department.

Our Art Installation Lead will oversee the process of how artists bring their art to Nowhere and get refunded for their material expenses.

The lead will be responsible for putting out a “Call for Art”, putting together a team of Art Escorts who assist and communicate with artists about their project proposals, putting together a team of Art Councillors who review these proposals and assign them art grants, and putting together an on site art team to support artists during the event including build and strike.

Tasks and time commitment

As this is a year round role, the time commitment will vary depending on the needs of the event and your own responsibilities/availability. It is likely to be up to 5 hours a week most of the year, increasing to be more intense (up to 15 hours per week) from March to July.

Here’s some tasks your team will be responsible for (and you will need to oversee). You will have the support of the Creativity MetaLead throughout the year to make sure everything is on track and help you sort out any issues.

Pre Event:

  • Putting out the Call for Art!
  • Tracking the project proposals and supporting the artists in completing their grant applications. (Art Escorts sub team)
  • Reviewing, deliberating, and deciding on art installation grants. (Art Council sub-team)
  • Communication with the artists
  • Communication with other departments for artists needs (e.g. Power, Placement, Early Entry…)

During Event:

  • On site art team support for artists
  • Ad hoc solving any art related issues that arise on site
  • Communicating with other teams as needed

Post Event:

  • Overseeing the refunding process with the Finants team
  • Attending the All Leads Meeting if possible
  • Completing any evaluation and feedback processes (PNR reports etc.)
